Sarcasm

I’m ALL about fun, laughing, and having a good time—because I am of the firm belief that joy is a gift from the Lord.

And I know the Bible says laughter is like good medicine…

But not at someone else’s expense.

I used to proudly call myself sarcastic.

It was just my sense of humor…

Or so I thought.

But then I saw this picture.

And it made me stop in my tracks.

It asked a hard question:

Is your sarcasm actually just contempt in disguise?

If your words tear people down, mock them, or belittle them, then it’s not humor—it’s harm.

If that’s your intent—shame on you.

If you’re unsure—check your heart.

Because the words that come out of your mouth reveal what’s really in there.

And if you realize you’ve hurt someone, even unintentionally, maybe it’s time to go make it right.

Ask for forgiveness.

Heal what you broke.

You can’t say you love Jesus and deliberately speak or act in a way that’s completely opposite of what He would do.

Love lifts.

It doesn’t tear down.

And sarcasm isn’t a spiritual gift—love is.

If someone believes they have a relationship with God but fails to guard his words, then his heart is drifting away and his religion is shallow and empty.

— James 1:26 TPT
